Kobe 9 Elite Low Protro “Moonwalker”: A Sneaker Between Hardwood and Spotlight

08/03/2025

More than a decade after its original release, the Kobe 9 Elite Low “Moonwalker” returns to the stage. Inspired by Michael Jackson and his gravity-defying presence, the pair blurs the lines between performance and spectacle — reviving a silhouette that once redefined what a basketball shoe could look and feel like.

Dressed in a striking Hyper Grape upper, with touches of Cave Purple, white, and subtle metallic silver, this reissue carries the same dual energy it had in 2014: part on-court weapon, part visual statement. Its sharp construction — built with engineered mesh, a carbon fiber plate, and Flyknit elements — still reads as modern, yet every detail seems rooted in performance nostalgia and pop culture legacy.

Originally created as a performance breakthrough, the Kobe 9 Elite Low was the first to merge high-cut support with low-top speed. But beyond its specs, this “Moonwalker” colorway tells a deeper story — one of movement, rhythm, and aura. It doesn’t just evoke Kobe’s footwork; it channels Jackson’s moonwalk, turning a basketball shoe into a piece of stagecraft.

The release is set for September 10, 2025, with a retail price of around $190, available via Nike SNKRS and select retailers.

And this “Moonwalker”, with its glowing violet tones and silver echoes, feels like a rare sticker — the kind you place carefully, right in the middle of the page.
